Socket Weld Union

MSS SP-83 | Forged Socket Weld Union | Class 3000–6000 | NPS 1/8–3

Elite is a manufacturer and supplier of Forged Socket Weld Unions for small-bore piping systems where a detachable connection is required. Socket Weld Unions are three-piece fittings consisting of a male end, female end and union nut, allowing the piping connection to be assembled or dismantled without cutting the pipe.

Elite Socket Weld Unions are manufactured for reliable service in process piping, oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical, power generation, pharmaceutical and other industrial applications. They are available in Class 3000 and Class 6000 configurations in accordance with MSS SP-83, with socket-weld ends designed for permanent welded connection to the pipe. MSS SP-83 specifically covers forged carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel and nickel alloy unions with socket-welding and threaded ends.

Standards Note
MSS SP-83-2025 is the specific standard for Class 3000 and Class 6000 Pipe Unions, Socket Welding and Threaded. It defines essential dimensions, finish, tolerances, testing, marking, materials and minimum performance requirements for forged pipe unions.
For socket-weld unions, the applicable standard classes are Class 3000 and Class 6000. Class 2000 and Class 9000 are not listed for MSS SP-83 socket-weld unions.
ASME B16.11 covers forged socket-welding and threaded fittings generally, but MSS SP-83 is the specific union standard.
