U Tubes

ASTM A179 | ASTM A192 | ASTM A213 | ASTM A249 | ASTM A556 | ASME SA specifications

Elite supplies U-bend tubes for shell-and-tube heat exchangers, condensers, feedwater heaters, and other thermal equipment. U tubes are manufactured from specified straight tube lengths and formed into a U-shaped configuration, allowing thermal expansion while accommodating compact exchanger designs.

Available materials include carbon steel, low-alloy steel, stainless steel, and other project-specified alloys. Tube outside diameter, wall thickness, bend radius, leg length, heat treatment, and inspection requirements are selected according to the approved drawings and applicable tube specification.

Applicable Standards and Materials

Standard Typical grades / Materials Typical application
ASTM A179 / ASME SA179 Seamless low-carbon steel Heat exchangers and condensers
ASTM A192 / ASME SA192 Seamless carbon steel High-pressure boiler tube applications where specified
ASTM A213 / ASME SA213 T5, T11, T22, T91, TP304/304L, TP316/316L and other applicable grades Alloy and stainless heat-transfer tubes
ASTM A249 / ASME SA249 TP304/304L, TP316/316L and other applicable grades Welded austenitic heat-exchanger and condenser tubes
ASTM A556 / ASME SA556 Applicable carbon-steel grades Seamless cold-drawn feedwater-heater tubes
The exact standard must match the equipment design and purchase specification; not every listed tube standard is suitable for every U-bend application.
